Help My Mom Regain Her Health and Stability
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart to ask for help for someone who has always put others before herself — my mom.
For more than 20 years, my mother worked as a dedicated home health aide, caring for people in their most vulnerable moments. She poured her heart into helping others live with dignity, comfort, and love. But now, due to a devastating car accident in 2023, she’s the one in need of care — and she’s been left without a safety net.
At just 55 years old, my mom’s life has changed completely. She’s undergone multiple surgeries and uses a walker for mobility. Recently, she had rotator cuff and labral repair surgery on her right shoulder, which has made recovery even more difficult. Because of this, she’s temporarily unable to use her power wheelchair and now has to rely on a manual wheelchair — which means she needs someone to help push her around for mobility and safety.
She receives occupational and physical therapy, but she only gets home health aide bath visits for two hours per week, which is far from enough for her daily needs. On top of that, she is currently experiencing a food shortage crisis — the recent federal government shutdown has delayed her food stamp benefits, leaving her without assistance for November. She has also exhausted local resources to cover her electricity bill, putting her at serious risk of losing power and living in a home without lights.
She applied for Social Security Disability, but after nearly two years, she’s still waiting for approval. She’s reached out to every local resource and agency, but because she doesn’t meet certain age or dependent requirements, she doesn’t qualify for most financial assistance programs.
Over the past year, she’s drained her entire savings and retirement funds just to stay afloat — covering medical bills, prescriptions, utilities, and basic living expenses. She’s now at serious risk of losing her home — something no one should ever face, especially someone who spent her career helping others stay in theirs.
How Your Donation Will Help:
- Ongoing medical care and prescriptions
- Increased home health aide hours
- Food and basic living necessities
- Utilities and housing costs
- Transportation to medical appointments
My mom has always been a fighter — strong, kind, and full of faith. She’s been a blessing to so many people through her work and her heart. But right now, she needs our help.
If you’re able to give, no matter the amount, please know that it will go directly toward helping her regain stability and peace of mind. And if you can’t give, simply sharing this page means more than you know.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading her story, for your kindness, and for helping me support my mom. ❤️
With deep gratitude,
Ericka
