Hello, my name is Angela and this go fund me is for my Aunt to help with the unexpected costs after a tremendous loss.

In April it started with some hip and shoulder pain. We were told he just needed physio for a pinched nerve. My Uncle Nic did as was recommended by the doctor, but when at his appointment the physio therapist called for an ambulance knowing it was not just a pinched nerve. After multiple hospital visits and endless tests doctors could not give us an answer. As the months went on, his pain increased tremendously, and his mobility decreased.

On Friday morning, August 2nd, he was again sent by an ambulance to the hospital. We hoped we would finally get some answers. Late that evening we did, and we were told they found cancer in his lungs and spine. In the middle of the night he was flown from Prince George to Vancouver General Hospital to see a spine doctor. After an MRI was done Saturday morning they found multiple tumours, the cancer was too advanced to do anything.

We were told one of the tumours grew so large on his spine that it quite literally broke his spinal cord. Which explained why he started to feel numbness in his legs a few days prior and at this point couldn’t feel or move his legs at all. Saturday evening we were told they didn’t think he would make it through the night. But he did.

My Aunt and cousin flew into Vancouver, as did I, Sunday morning. When we got to the hospital the nurse told us we was very confused and not really waking up. My Aunt went to him and spoke to him and his eyes opened. He spoke with us all clear as day. He wasn’t able to move his body at all, but he still cracked jokes and said he was “pretty dang good”.

On Monday August 5th, just after 4am, he went peacefully.

If you were lucky enough to know him, you know just how incredible he was. This loss and this pain is immeasurable for us all. We had less than 3 days to process all of this. We were not prepared.

All money donated will go towards the unexpected travel expenses, transporting my Uncle Nic home, and funeral costs.
