Help my fur baby Blu Recover After a Terrible Accident
Blu shouldn’t be fighting for his life right now – but after being hit by a car last night, that’s exactly what he’s doing.
Last night, my sweet boy Blu was hit by a car. Somehow, through pure determination and love, he managed to drag himself home to me – broken, bleeding, and in shock.
I rushed him to the emergency vet, where he has been in ICU ever since, surrounded by an incredible team who are doing everything they can to save him.
Today, Blu is undergoing the first of two major surgeries. His jaw will be wired so he can eat again. On Monday, he will face another operation to repair his pelvis where it meets his spine, in the hope that he will regain full mobility and the ability to go to the toilet on his own.
The vets believe he can recover, but the cost of the life-saving care he needs is overwhelming. Between ICU, surgeries, medications, and rehabilitation, the bills will be over $11,000. I simply can’t cover this alone – but I can’t give up on him after seeing how hard he is fighting to stay here with me.
Blu is my family, my shadow, and the little heartbeat in my home. With your help, he has a real chance to heal and go back to the happy, playful cat he was before this awful accident.
If you can donate – no matter how small – it will go directly towards his care. If you can’t, please share his story so others might be able to help.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for giving Blu the chance to come home.
***Update on Blu – Surgery Plans Changed
Blu’s first surgery to fix his broken jaw went well, and he’s still in ICU recovering. He’s been such a little fighter through all of this.
We were meant to go ahead with his pelvic surgery on Monday, but there’s been a setback. Blu hasn’t been able to wee on his own, and his blood tests show his kidneys are under some strain. Because of this, he’s going under anaesthetic again today so the vets can put in a catheter to help relieve his bladder and take the pressure off his kidneys.
Once his kidney levels improve and he’s stable, they’ll go ahead with the surgery to repair his fractured pelvis.
The next few days are important we’re hoping he responds well to the catheter and that his kidneys start to recover. Only then will it be safe to fix his pelvis and give him the best chance of walking and going to the toilet on his own again.
Thank you so much to everyone for the kind messages and for sharing Blu’s GoFundMe on your social media. We still need help to get him through this, and every share or donation makes a difference.
And please, to anyone with pets if you can, get insurance. You never expect something like this to happen until it does.
All my love Honey x
