Hello, My name is Nicholas (Nico) Aleshire and on December 12th, 2016 around midnight during a Full Moon, I was riding on my new motorcycle (Sober too) on my way back to my hotel room from Walmart. There was no one on the road that night except for this car off in the distance with his headlights on but no turn signals or other indicator lights blinking. As i approached this car I slowed down from 55 to 35. As soon as I was about to go by him he turned the car into me which resulted in crushing my lower left leg against the engline block and somehow made my femur break through the top of my leg and broke my left shoulder in the process. He leaped from his car and and yelled at me asking if I was ok and I replied, NOOOO CALL 911 NOW! He ran away, leaving me, my bike, and his girlfriend's car which he had borrowed to go to the liquor store to buy some "juice" he would later claim in his first deposition.

The Bike was still on as gasoline poured out all over me laying there on my right side. I had to get out from under the bike and get the bike turned off before the thing caught fire. At this point I had no idea that my leg and foot were so crushed, but i wiggled and pushed as hard as I could just to relieive enough tension on my bike chain that i made that was attached to my jeans and on the other end my keys. I turned the key off and went to try to stand up and fell flat on my chest on the side of the highway. I thought this was where I was going to die that night.
Soon enough I was surrounded by police, EMS, and other emergency care providers and was airlifted to the ICU at the hospital in MIAMI. I awoke 24 hours later alone and in the dark. I soon found the controls for everything and turned on everything to discover that to my horror, my lower left leg had been cut off and that there was a fixator device strapped to my thigh to keep the metal rod they had to implant into my femur in place while it healed up a bit more.

In total, I was in the Hospital in Miami for approximately 3 months. After undergoing several surgeries, I was given 3 choices about what to do while I heal up and try to start my life over again. I opted to move into a cabin that my father had built for me and my sister when we were teens in Eureka Springs Arkansas. Moving back there to patch up became quite the oddity.

By the 3rd week of July 2017 I had been approved for my first new prototype prosthesis. It had never felt so good to finally be able to stand up again on my own. In the midst of this progress, at 4pm on August 1st 2017 I would end up finding my mother, Cindy Rogers, had decided to commit suicide after she received a verbal 3 week eviction notice. As if life had not been made hard enough already by this family crisis.

I received my final prosthetic model a few weeks after her death and with this new model came two neoprene liners and two covers with some odds and ends. I took great care of them until finally after 4 years of wear and tear, I was approved for a new leg, foot, and liners in October of 2021. It took a little while to get used to the new set which led to having to cut some to fit but the reshaping did not work out.

Well it has come time again to acquire a totally new foot and have some repairs made to the carbon fiber socket.
Because I am not in America (I live in Saigon) at the moment, I cannot go through my Medicare Insurance, which already comes with a copay of $600+ for a new set and the repairs. I tracked down a Prosthetics Company called "auto leg" here that has introduced me to a new type of Composite Gel Liner designed and made in Japan that prevents the buildup of sweat and is thick enough that it holds my leg socket on without any other need for attachments to keep it on. They will be providing me with the Gel Liner, the Cover, A couple of new special kevlar socks for my foot and have offered free adjustments to my rig just so long as I choose to remain their client. I went to see them yesterday and after they looked at the carbon fiber spot on my foot again and they told me that between that and the internal auto heel that moves that I'm going to need a new one, so I am going to try to raise another 1k for this which will cover the new foot, clinical visits and maybe a barely used running blade which night be the answer to all of this. It all has to be light weight.

I need these things so I can start working on the physical portion of the project without hurting myself, which is really all I have wanted to get back to since getting into my accident. But rather than Cook Gourmet Food for the Rich and oblivious in NY and other international locations I will be starting a Youtube Show about the entire process of me and my team building out my first Independently Owned and Operated Restaurant with the goal of winning 3 Michelin stars out of the gate. A lot of R&D will be going into this project, but I cannot push forward without the ability to walk without hurting myself. Hence the need for new gear.

Thank You all whom have helped me now, in the past, and in the future. You know who you are. I will forever be in your debt. and if your lucky i can pay you back with a meal that will blow your mind and your palette.

Regards,
N
