On May 22nd, the light of the universe dimmed just a little when we lost a small but significant source of joyful energy. Her name was Briley Claire. At 15 months old she was a brilliant point of light in what seems an ever-darkening world. Briley drowned in a tragic accident. The pain and devastation this loss has wreaked on this family is indescribable, I just do not have the words.
My name is Dave Howe; I am the grandfather of Briley and the father of Shelby Kreutzer-Howe (Briley's mother) and father in-law to Steven Kreutzer, Shelby’s husband. Briley had 4 siblings: brothers Rylan, Dominic, and River, and sister Savanna. There is no scale or any way to measure the love and care they have shown each other as children. With this horrific loss testing the strength of what binds us together as a family, I can only say that I am immensely proud of their fortitude to pull together as one and endure all the pain and heartbreak. They are great kids!
Steven is a disabled veteran who has dealt with and is dealing with his disability every day. He is a stay-at-home dad and a devoted father who gives all his spare time to his children. If he’s not building a swing set or a model racetrack, he’s doing something for the kids. A man that loves his children more you will not find.
Shelby is a 911 operator serving the community in Adams County, Colorado. She works extremely hard and long hours in an incredibly stressful occupation. As part of her training Shelby learned CPR. It was Shelby that performed CPR on her own daughter before the paramedics arrived. Folks can you even imagine the strength and courage it took to attempt this and having to live with doubt and self-recriminations of being unsuccessful. I cannot!
As a man who is not particularly good at asking for something to be given for him, I believe in this circumstance I must because the cause is so pure. So that Briley can have a beautiful resting place and marker that will serve to preserve her memory.
So, I will ask you, please anything you can do to help me help this family send this sweet angel to her final resting place with the dignity, grace, and sweetness she so well deserves.
Thank You
