My name is Rosemary. As a wife, mother and grandmother, I am humbly asking for help with my husband's medical transport expenses. Bill was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. He is disabled, having no use of his legs due to spinal stenosis. As a result, he needs to be medically transported for his treatments. We live in Monmouth County. I reached out to the SCAT Program for free medical transport and was told they are booked out through the end of July. It is on a first come/first serve basis with no priority over cancer treatments versus shopping. Medicare has a copay of $250 per ride, which amounts to $500 per day for 6 weeks. Other transport companies range from 250 to 325 per day. As a last resort, I am trying to rent a wheelchair accessible van so I can transport Bill myself. The cost is 3750 overall.
