Please aid in the Grievance of Cherise’s family

We regret to inform you of the passing of your late friend, daughter, granddaughter, niece, and sibling; Cherise Gilbert (Muslim Name: Rokhaya Afia). She was a ray of light to many of us, and always brought out a smile to our faces with her genuine personality, and jovial nature.

She was one of a kind and irreplaceable, thus our found memories of her will always grow stronger. Which will undoubtedly help in our grieving process. Consequently, a few friends of our lately departed have joined efforts to create this Gofundme page to be of assistance to her grieving family.

Fortunately through the benevolence of the Mosque she frequented, the congregation decided to go according to Islamic customs and provided the funds necessary for the funeral and mortuary expenses of their late fellow Musjid attendee. Prior to that we already planned to collect funds for those very expenses. However since we judged necessary to facilitated the family’s mourning, we decided to redirect our efforts to help them cover other expenses such as: family flight expenses, personal belongings relocation, outstanding monthly bills, grief counseling therapy, and anything else that would aid in their period of grieving.

Current plans are to have the burial at the Lancaster Palmdale Islamic Mortuary and Cemetery.
Located at:
1305 118th St W, Rosamond, CA 93560, United States

The date is yet to be determined per The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s unreleased body, however we have faith that her body will be released either Thursday September 15th or Friday September 16th.

The funeral prayer and burial are going to be performed on the same day. It will be confirmed and communicated to you soon through the “In Loving Memory of Cherise Gilbert” Facebook page or by any other means accessible after the release of the body to the family.

Please be mindful that all attendees at the Musjid and the Mortuary, male or female, are expected to dress modestly and adhere to funeral etiquette. Men usually wear a shirt and trousers, while women wear a long-sleeved top, ankle-length skirt, and a headscarf.

Thank you in advance for your generosity or non-financial support.

May God Bless you all, and may God help us find the strength and grace to heal as one community of the Abrahamic faith. (Ameen, Amen)
