In September we have rescued 53 cats & kittens off the streets of Bradford. Most of these cats and kittens we had come in were in shocking states.
We’ve had ruptured eye in a boy who’d had this for 3 years out on the streets!
Another girls from the same place needed a dental after having infected and rotting teeth.
At another site in Bradford 2 girls were having dead litters. We managed to get both girls spayed & treated as well as 4 kittens who were a few weeks old and had very bad cat flu.
At yet another site we rescued another 2 older kittens and their mum who was deaf and already pregnant with the next litter.
And if that wasn’t enough we then had THREE colony sites with a total of 21 kittens & 8 plus adults!
We are neutering all the adults & have rescued all the kittens who all had a very severe strain of cat flu & many were anemic.
From the 21 kittens 9 were initially hospitalised & then a 10th was also hospitalised. The rest went into emergency foster care. From the ones stable to leave 12 left for a rescue in Scotland which we funded transport for.
9 stayed in foster care here as they were too ill to go. 5 needed continued overnight hospital care at £100 a night with 2 kittens being in there for 2 weeks at £100 a night PER kitten!
Sadly 5 kittens died and we have 4 kittens who have survived but 2 remain very unwell and a 3rd needs an op to remove his eye.
On top of that we also have had to fund a cat who’s had a leg amputation who will be coming into our care once foster space is available. This has cost the rescue over £700.
This has all left us with the worst vet bill we have ever faced and it’s now reaching over £12,000!! In just ONE month.
We have had to close our doors until we pay off at least £5,000! We are a small volunteer run rescue these are staggering bills to face. But if we hadn’t have tried to help there would be many more dead. Over 20 for sure There was no other safety net for these cats. Every rescue was full. Just to get some into rescue we had to fund transportation to Scotland for £388 as well as initial treatment costs.
There are so many more cats out there that desperately need our help right now! But we can’t get to them until we have raised enough funds to pay it off.
We are working flat out to both look after poorly cats but also to fundraise with events. All so we can open our doors again and keep helping cats & kittens from the streets of Bradford. We urgently need to raise this so even if you can give just £5 lots of people doing a little all adds up. We receive no local or government funding and are a registered charity run by volunteers. Every penny you give goes on these cats.
Please for the sake of these cats & kittens if you could donate even just £5 it makes a difference because it all adds up.
Please share as much as you can
