Playground Fund
Donation protected
Reading Friends of Aledo is an academic preschool and kindergarten serving children ages two through six. We are in need of a new playground surface for the children to play on.
Our current playground was covered in mulch; however, due to flooding in the building that was attributed to the build-up of the mulch, we had to have the mulch removed. As a result, the playground has been reduced to hard dirt and rock. With the removal of the mulch we also had to remove the climbing structures because there was no longer a safe fall-zone area.
After researching all the options for resurfacing, we have decided to install artificial turf throughout the play area. The benefits of turf include:
1. The reduction of heat during the warmer months by up to 15% ,
2. The design will help move water away from the building,
3. The artificial turf will create a beautiful green space during all seasons for the children to play at recess,
4. There will be no down-time on the playground following a rain shower!
We have raised all but the last $5,000 needed to resurface the playground during the holiday break! If we can raise this last bit of funding, then the children will return to a completely redesigned, safe, and functional playground on January 6th!
Thank you for anything that you can give to help us reach this fundraising goal! We are excited to unveil this special play area to the students of Reading Friends of Aledo!
