In 2021, our son Axel died unexpectedly at just 2.5 years of age. He should be attending Wenonah, and his absence is felt deeply by our family. His older sister, Ingrid, is currently in 4th grade at Keewaydin, and his younger brother, Magnus, is now 3 years old; older than Axel ever got to be.
To honor Axel’s memory, we want to create a space where children and families can come together to play, laugh, and learn—just as Axel would have loved.
The funds raised through this campaign will be used to purchase playground equipment for the Wenonah kindergarten playground. By improving this space, we hope to provide a joyful and inclusive environment where young children can explore, create, and grow together. This project is not only a tribute to Axel, but also a gift to the community, offering a place for connection and happiness.
We've previously added "Axel's Xylophone" to the Keewaydin Community park.
We also hope to raise awareness for SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood), which is the unexplained or unexpected death of a child over the age of 12 months. By sharing Axel’s story, we want to help others understand the impact of SUDC and support families who have experienced similar losses.
Our goal is to encourage our loving community to join us in making this vision a reality. Your support will help us build a playground that celebrates Axel’s spirit and brings joy to many families for years to come. Thank you for considering a donation and for helping us honor Axel in such a meaningful way.
