Playground for Chesterfield Special School

We are Ashgate Croft School and we are a special needs school in Chesterfield, with students attending from all over the Derbyshire area. The majority of our students have severe learning difficulties and would have difficulty coping in a mainstream school. Some of our pupils have profound and multiple learning difficulties, with an increasing number on the autism spectrum.

We are fundraising for a new playground for our students - our current playground has not been refurbished for many years, with limited accessible equipment for our students to use. We want to be able to offer our students a wide range of outdoor experiences in a safe environment, including the option to use some play equipment that they may not be able to easily access elsewhere (e.g wheelchair accessible swings.)

As most people are aware, school budgets are very tight at the moment and this is a very big job to undertake - we have been, and continue to fundraise in school but as the cost of this work will be very high we are now appealing to anyone who may be in a position to help support with this - any donation, large or small would be very gratefully received.

We have attached some photos of our current playground and a copy of our plans to show what our goal is, and we really believe that this outdoor area will be very beneficial and enjoyable for our students.
