Play Is More Than Just Fun

Tax deductible
For a small child there is no division between play and learning. (Penelope Leach, Child Psychologist)

Play brings children together. They learn how to interact, be part of a group, resolve conflicts and strengthen bonds.

Children play less in recent decades and spend less time outdoors. They spend even less time outdoors at the Midway Children's Center because there is no safe playground to play on.

The Midway Children's Center, a part of Metropolitan Family Services, provides full-day, high quality early learning services for 72 children age two to five years on Chicago's southwest side.

The Center is located at 3215 W. 63rd. It has limited indoor space for play and the surrounding neighborhood lacks safe park space within walking distance.

A new, 1,885 square foot playground will replace the children’s current unusable play area, that was built in 2004, and will include a more durable and safe poured-in play surface. The playground will cost $107,000 and will include play equipment, attractive landscaping, and fencing to guarantee the safety of the children.

Your support will help build a new playground for the children of the Midway Children’s Center, empowering them to thrive through learning and play.
