Planting Hope in New York’s Poorest County
Donation protected
Hello there! My name is Kevin Woodcock. I am a lifelong carpenter that has married a botanist. My wife, Jackie, has a degree and a love for growing fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers. The definition of a green thumb. We also live in the Adirondack Mountains in an area with no grocery store within 50 miles. Our area is made up of several small towns, all with no grocery store.
Our dream is to combine my carpentry skills with my wife's green thumb to bring fresh, sustainably grown produce to our area. We live in the poorest county in New York (St. Lawrence). We have saved up $20,000 to put towards the purchase of property to start this fruit grove/vegetable garden. We want to call it Mount Eden and have it open seasonally to the public with high-quality fresh produce at a low cost. We are looking to the generous public to help fund this endeavor.
Jackie has propagated over 100 different fruit trees that now sit at our personal home just waiting to be planted in the ground where they can produce. She has also already purchased over $10,000 worth of vegetable seeds with over 150 varieties. We have all the knowledge and a lot of what is already needed to go forward and are willing to put in the hard work and effort but could use a little help in purchasing and clearing a piece of property to plant. Thank you for considering helping our humble area.
