Planting an edible forest and wildlife shelterbelts

Donation protected
Stonecrackers Wood Cabin sits on the edge of an open field, but over time it will gently blend back into the landscape — sheltered beneath a growing canopy of native trees and hedgerows.

We are committed to creating a quiet sanctuary for both people and wildlife. As part of this vision, we are planting native trees and hedgerows near the cabin, alongside a seven-tier edible forest on the land, designed to provide food, shelter and resilience for all life that shares this space.

Be part of its growth.

All donations are gratefully received, with 100% going directly towards tree planting and tree protection*.
We ask for a minimum donation of £10 per basket of firewood, helping us maintain a sustainable system rooted in coppicing, regrowth and long-term care of the land.

As the saying goes, “The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The next best time is now.”

* Each tree is selected to suit the land and its existing ecology, so we’re unable to take requests for specific species — every tree planted strengthens the wider ecosystem.

Thanks to your generosity in 2025, we planted over 300 native trees and hedges, now growing along the walk up to the wood cabin.

The next tree planting will take place in November 2026.
