Please continue to help the Nation’s most highly regarded bilingual, nature-based preschool grow and impact the lives of hundreds of more children and families! Our rain-or-shine outdoor learning environment needs to be accessible to as many children as possible!!!
The past few years have been spectacular for Little Tree Huggers (LTH). Your generous support helped us secure two additional classroom/nature preserve locations, one on Gap Rd. in Leesburg, VA and one in Bluemont, VA. Even though that raised our student population to 36, there's still an enormous unfulfilled need; particularly as a result of the local and national attention associated with LTH having received Loudoun County’s first-ever Small Business Sustainability Award along with the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School Award in 2023.
LTH has therefore accepted the challenge of growing beyond our roots as a home-based program into a full Kindergarten–Elementary environmental education center!
To bring this dream to life, we are seeking community support to expand our Leesburg campus by 6 acres, allowing us to build an Earth-centered learning space where children from kindergarten through the elementary years can continue to grow in harmony with nature.
This expansion will allow us to:
- Offer Kindergarten curriculum grounded in sustainability, emotional regulation, and outdoor exploration.
- Create dedicated nature classrooms, forest trails, and learning gardens.
- Deepen our mission of cultivating young environmental stewards through experiential learning.
This is more than just a land expansion—it’s a chance to create a long-term impact for future generations, right here in our community.
To lead this effort, LTH has partnered with Rebecca Kiernan, an elementary and middle school teacher, as well as proud parent of a LTH student!

LTH is a partnership of bilingual environmental educational initiatives founded in Leesburg, Virginia and dedicated to breaking down barriers to Sustainability in all areas of society.
LTH Earth Center, is a nonprofit, nondenominational environmental educational initiative focused on growing the LTH family, and is committed to setting the example for Home-Based Sustainability education world-wide.
LTH LLC initiated operations in 2015 as a home-based Preschool, licensed by the Virginia Department of Education to operate with a maximum of 12 children, ages 2 1/2 to 5. Due to an overwhelming response to our curriculum and award winning environmental commitments, like solar and geothermal, we were urged by the local community to embark on the process of expanding LTH into an environmental educational initiative able to impact the lives of hundreds of more children and families.
LTH Earth Center was incorporated in 2020 as the charitable arm of LTH LLC and, in conjunction with LTH Franchising LLC, is working tirelessly to set the example for Sustainability education world-wide!
LTH Earth Center's Mission is to create more access and equity in the Sustainability Education space by assisting families embarking on the home-based Sustainability Education journey, providing scholarship opportunities for lower to middle income families and helping to feed LTH's growing animal rescue population.
Our mid-nineteenth century bank barn remains the location for all ceremonies, family gatherings, and training!
WHAT WE DO:
LTH offers a five day a week, rain or shine nature-based educational curriculum out of two adjacent classroom locations:
20583 Gleedsville Rd. and 40337 Gap Rd. in Leesburg, VA
Each classroom is licensed for 12 children, ages 2 1/2 - 5, 12 months out of the year! That means we operate year round, only closing for National Holidays, Winter and Spring Break, Summer Break (the first two weeks of every July) and the last week in August, for teacher training. (See our Programs Tab and Parent Teacher Handbook for details.)
Our goal is to inspire children, their families and even local businesses to connect with nature, care for the environment and celebrate the diversity of our multicultural world. To this end, parents are strongly encouraged to conduct 8 hour of community service at LTH per year.
We believe that an eco-green environment is essential for the development of healthy minds and bodies. LTH’s unique nature-based model, coupled with plenty of surrounding nature, comfortably and uniquely creates an excellent foundation for your child’s future education.
Children enrolled at LTH spend 75% of their time outdoors daily!
