It's Scary! Tassie Planning Matters

Standing up for your backyard...
Do you hold dear your home’s privacy, sunshine and neighbourhood character? Or wish to safeguard Tasmania’s hard won National Parks and reserves from inappropriate commercial development?
The Planning Matters Alliance Tasmania (PMAT) represents 58 community groups and thousands of people, united by grave concern over the Liberal government’s proposed statewide planning laws. PMAT is working hard to ensure we get a planning scheme that works for everyone. Here is our positive platform we are taking to the state election.
You can help by donating here today!
Our aims are motivated by the conflict over high-rise hotels in Hobart and Launceston, and how the proposed statewide planning laws will impact our towns and backyards, our skylines, our coastlines, our marine environment, our Aboriginal and built heritage and our wild, world-class landscapes.
Watch our TV ad!
The Liberals' proposed Tasmanian Planning Scheme will impact all the things we love about Tasmania. Their planning laws will affect every inch of our land and are due to come into effect this year.
And the election is on March 3rd…
It’s scary!
Now is our best chance to fix the proposed planning scheme.
The TV ads cost between $75 to $700 each depending on the prime-time level.
Watch our new TV ad and please DONATE. The more $ we have, the more ads we can air.
Shockingly, the Liberals' Planning Scheme fails to address many key-issues including:
· Urban development with higher buildings and closer to fences, multi-unit developments and smaller block sizes;
· Your home’s privacy and sunlight will no longer be adequately protected;
· Your democratic right to have a say, with more development approved without public consultation or rights of appeal;
· Commercial tourism developments in our National Parks and Reserves can be approved without any guarantee of public consultation, and no rights of appeal and
· There is a lack of integration of key land uses. Forestry, marine farming and dam construction remain exempt from the new scheme.
So far we have borrowed $ to get these TV ads produced and on air.
We urgently need your help to defend our backyards.
With your generous donation, we can play these powerful TV ads at this critical time.
Together we can ensure the Liberal Government gets this TV ad message that Tasmanian’s need more democratic and inclusive planning laws.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please SHARE this with your Facebook and email networks.
With best wishes and love for our island home,
