Planning for an encore
In 2007, I was diagnosed with an oligodendroglioma. That June I had my first brain surgery. My second brain surgery was December of that same year. A third was the following August (2008 for those keeping track). A fourth occurred in July 2011. A fifth showed up in June 2014. Sadly, contrary to the gag promise in the joke punchcard I am using for a cover image for this campaign, the fifth brain surgery is never free. It is now May 2017 and here I sit in the hospital waiting for my fate to be decided - it sounds like a brain surgery is definitely in my future plus a clinical trial that involves an already proven cancer drug for breast cancer patients. Additionally, the tumor this time presented with a number of consecutive seizures that dislocated both of my shoulder, so at least one or two of those surgeries are likely on the table (pardon the pun). I chose 11,111 because it was the first number that popped into my head and I will not be surprised if expenses will reach at least that much, medical expenses are difficult to find documentation for. This is not just about medical expenses, but about living expenses, like food and such. I'm pretty good about keeping stuff in savings
