The members of The Plain Dealer unit of The Northeast Ohio Newspaper Guild are used to fighting. Usually, it’s for the public. This time, we’re asking the public to rally around us.
The Plain Dealer recently notified the Guild of its plans to outsource the jobs of 22 Guild employees who copy edit, curate, design and illustrate our newspaper and lay off another 14 reporters, editors and photographers.
Please consider supporting our efforts. We plan to use any funds raised in our fight to protect local journalism and to help our members who face layoffs.
For those who would prefer to send donations by mail, donations can be sent to: Northeast Ohio Newspaper Guild, Local 1, 1400 E. Schaaf Road, Brooklyn Heights, OH 44131. Checks should be made out to Northeast Ohio Newspaper Guild, Local 1.
To the many of you who have reached out, we appreciate your support. You’ve stood with us through layoffs, delivery challenges and a loss of daily home delivery. This fight is for you and for Cleveland.
