Project Level's College & Career Tour 2019

Donation protected
Project Level employs the arts to develop the leadership and creative skills of San Francisco’s underserved and underresourced youth of color. Our after-school and summertime programs provide teenagers and young adults access to artistic mentors, arts education, performance, and employment opportunities.  Our programs empower youth to express themselves and to incorporate their awareness of social justice issues into their creative work. Project Level’s programs recognize that, for the most part, youth living in traditionally marginalized communities are unaware of the many arts-related jobs and potential creative careers in the music, dance, theater, filmmaking, design, technology, and advertising fields. Most of them perceive going to college or enrolling in arts-related career development programs as a matter of attending academic classes.  Our goal is to contradict this impression and to demonstrate that engaging and exciting training options are available to youth who want to pursue professional careers in the arts.

Project Level will embark on their 6th annual college and career tour in Los Angeles, Ca and Las Vegas, NV from Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 - Friday, March 29th, 2019. On this trip, the students will tour traditional and art based colleges, meet with currently enrolled students, and have dialogue around student life and transitioning from high school to college. Students will meet entertainment professionals/mentors that would discuss pathways into various career opportunities within the entertainment and fashion business. Each day students will participate in team building activities and will work in professional environments on their final projects alongside entertainment and fashion professionals (professional recording studio, record labels, state of the art photography and film studios, social media platform headquarters, dance studios, a clothing brand company, and more).

Our College and Career tour takes place during the students Spring Break, so we like to add a day of fun to this action-packed trip. We'd like to take the students to Universal Studios for a day of fun. Although we fundraise year-round to provide (lodging, transportation, free meals, rental studio costs, and professional dance classes, we still need your help to reach our goal of $5,000.

Each ticket cost $105/ per student plus $15 for food voucher and $25/ each vehicle to park. There will be 35 youth attending the college tour with 8 chaperones. **These rates are discounted group rates and we will receive 2 complimentary tickets.**

Our methodology:

We seek to expand and build upon the typical music program. Through year-round programming, students work with mentors and industry professionals to learn all aspects of the entertainment industry.
