Help Us Make 2026 a Year of Hope for the PKU Community - in memory of Tony Bishop, an advocate for the PKU community.

In 2024, our lives changed forever when our son Bailey was diagnosed with Phenylketonuria (PKU) at birth. Bailey is now 1 years old, and while this past year has been one of the most challenging we’ve ever faced, it has also shown us just how extraordinary he is. From the very beginning, Bailey has met every test, blood spot, and dietary restriction with remarkable resilience, determination, and bravery. He inspires us every single day.

This GoFundMe page has been created to support a series of fundraising projects taking place throughout 2026, and in memory of Tony Bishop, all with one shared goal: to raise vital funds, awareness, and support for the PKU community.

PKU CHARITY BALL 2026 - IN MEMORY OF TONY BISHOP:

Our biggest event will be the PKU Charity Winter Ball, taking place on 28th November 2026 at the stunning University Arms Hotel in Cambridge. This will be a truly special evening — bringing families, friends, clinicians, and supporters together — and will feature a completely low-protein three-course meal. For those living with PKU, this is incredibly rare and unbelievably exciting, and it represents everything this event stands for: inclusion, understanding, and celebration.

TONY:

Tony, a beloved husband, son and father, is a much loved family member, who sadly lost his life in April 2026. Tony, along with his family, continue to be incredible advocates for the PKU community. This go fund me page is also in his memory, a space to recognise how wonderful he was and how much of a difference his generosity will make to the PKU community. We love and miss you.

BIKE FOR BAILEY:

Alongside the ball, we have other fundraising events happening! Bailey’s father (Max), Grandfather (Peter) and two close friends (Graham and Chris) will also be taking on an extraordinary challenge, cycling from London to Paris in June 2026 to raise money for this cause — with the ride concluding on National PKU Awareness Day! An amazing feat driven by love, determination, and a desire to make a real difference. We are so grateful for the hard work they are putting in!

TOM’S ENDURANCE CHALLENGE:

Not only that - A close friend (Tom) will be taking on a demanding series of endurance challenges, including a half marathon and three Spartan races, testing his strength, stamina, and determination every step of the way. By putting his body on the line for this cause, Tom is helping to raise both vital funds and much-needed awareness — proving that no challenge is too great when it comes to supporting children like Bailey and the wider PKU community.

All funds raised through this page will be split between two vital causes:

NSPKU, who provide essential support, education, advocacy, and community for families affected by PKU across the UK.

The Metabolic Team at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, whose specialist care, research, and ongoing support help children like Bailey live healthier, fuller lives.

Funding is absolutely critical. PKU is a lifelong condition that affects every aspect of daily life — from food and social experiences to mental health and long-term outcomes. The charities and clinical teams supporting families rely heavily on fundraising to continue their work, improve treatments, provide resources, and ensure no family feels alone on this journey.
