On July 6, 2025, Amanda was rushed to the University of Kansas Medical Center ICU after suffering a stroke caused by dissection of her carotid artery. The stroke affected her speech as well as her right hand. On July 10, she was transferred from the ICU to the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility, where she has made remarkable progress since receiving physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. She is now able to speak, and continues to make improvements everyday. Moving forward, she will need extensive outpatient rehabilitation for both speech and to help her gain mobility in her hand. Her anticipated release date is July 26.
Any money raised will be used to pay for outpatient therapy services not covered by insurance for speech as well as occupational therapy, transportation costs to and from daily therapy sessions, and the time she needs away from school and work to recover.
