PKD - Help the Cordaro’s with Jim’s Kidney
Donation protected
UPDATE: Hi everyone, my name is Madison Phillips. I’m 25 and I’m stationed with the Air Force miles away from my family. I’ve been away from my family for 6+ years; my stepfather and mother, Jim and Kayla Cordaro, and my younger siblings, Zachary and Samantha who all reside in New York, so you can imagine I’ve missed some milestones, hardships, and quality family moments, including this new life obstacle. We knew this time would come, but we didn’t know it would be this quick and I wish I was home to to do more. We are not the type of family to ask for help, but now we need the help. My stepfather, Jim, has reached the point of being put on the Kidney Transplant List as he suffers from PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). In easier terms, he’s in kidney failure and the percentage of his kidney function is dropping fast. The beginning of this process was hard, to say the least; trying to find a path to start all of this, but my superhero of mother, Kayla, jumped right into this and has been approved as Jim's donor! Jim's team has been trying to avoid dialysis depending on the time they could do the transplant, but we recently got notified that their transplant is now right around the corner on December 5th! ❤️ Jim will still be on medication for the rest of his life; anti rejection medication, immune suppressants, etc. Our family is concerned with the amount of money they’ll have to pay out of pocket in order to get insurance to cover most of Jim’s lifelong medication and this double procedure as a whole. Please keep in mind that even if he does get a kidney, he may have to have another transplant down the road considering how young he is. But to tackle the problem we have now, I am looking to raise money to help my parents pay for medical bills/medication. Christmas may look a little different this year, but there is nothing I could ask for more this holiday than to ask for help to keep my family together for as long as possible. With this all being said, from the Cordaro's to you, we thank and love you all for the support.
