Our son Jacob has a lifelong journey to dealing with the effects of his diagnosis. As a toddler he was diagnosed with Hemiplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy. Hemiplegia is a partial or whole paralysis to half (left/right) of the body. I say diagnosis and not disability only because he has never said he couldn’t do something because of it. He may not be as fast or strong as other kids his age but he tries with all his heart (he just thinks he need to do more pull-ups and push-ups). He is very athletic and has played football with the Guam Youth Raiders for the past 4 years. Unfortunately he will not be able to play this season as he is scheduled to undergo his second surgery this summer in Hawaii to help him walk/run properly. Through the years he will need more surgeries as his body continues to grow. The money will help cover airfare and food for Jacob and his mom for an estimated 6-8 weeks for his surgery and physical therapy.
