Pj was suppose to have his final stage of heart surgery back in March. Well we thought that was the end of his journey, but sadly 3 months later while at home, he started to become sicker. He became weak, he wasn't playful, and wasn't acting like his regular self. We took him to doctor's appointments every Friday, but he just wasn't getting any better. On July 21st, his symptoms had gotten worse. His cardiologist rushed him to UCSF Children's Hospital that same day! From there forward, our world was put on pause. We found out that our son's body had rejected the surgery and that he was at the end stages of biventricular heart failure . Fast forward to now, my son is at the top of the heart transplant national waitlist (status 1A). He underwent a 10 hour heart surgery to implant a Berlin pump(an artificial heart) to keep him alive. I thank God for the technology in the form of this pump, as it's what's keeping him here with us until his heart becomes available. The goal is to keep pj strong enough for him to receive his new heart. My baby is so young and trying to make sense of everything that he is going through. My son was supposed to start kindergarten this year, but unfortunately plans have changed. The wait time for a transplant is approximately one year which means he will also be celebrating his 6th birthday here in the hospital, but that's the least of our worries. I just thank God that my baby is still able to celebrate, and praying that he'll celebrate many more! I need for you all to keep me in prayer, most importantly #prayforpi Your love, support and contribution toward his heart transplant journey would be highly valued and mean so much to us! The money raised will go towards bills at home for my family’s lost wages, travel expenses getting back and forth to pj, to help pj feel at home by bringing the holidays he spends at home to him. His Birthday is in December money raised will also go towards that hoping to make this birthday very special one (in hopes of getting him a superhero character to come out for his birthday) #prayforpj #heartmom #pray4pj #heartwarrior #hearttransplant #giftoflife #organdonation
