I am embarrassed to be doing this, but I am desperate.
I’ve been out of work for more than a year. I’ve interviewed with more than three dozen associations around the country, and almost all have hired local people. I’ve applied for numerous hourly and part-time jobs trying to find anything for a paycheck and have been told more than once that I’m overqualified – they don’t want to hire me, train me, then have me leave for a job in my field.
I’ve spent my entire savings over the last year-plus to pay my bills. I’m now receiving food stamps and have $60 to my name. I applied for Social Security disability in mid-December for which, given my physical difficulties and having suffered a heart attack in October, I’m told I qualify. But I still have not heard whether my application will be accepted. I’m staying with friends in Maryland who have been so kind to me, but now they’re moving out of Maryland to an exciting new opportunity. I have a friend I can stay with in Tennessee, and I’m hoping the $60 can get me there. I’m at the end of my rope. I need help.
I need to find $650 a month to cover my auto and insurance payment and phone bill. If I lose these I lose the ability to find a job. I have to pay the first $650 by Feb. 23 or will have the car repossessed and phone shut off. I am asking you to help me raise $1430 ($1300 + GoFundMe fees) to help me this month and next while I keep looking for any job I can do. Any way you can help is more greatly appreciated than I can say. If you know of any jobs open, please let me know. I’m willing to move anywhere for work but can’t move without a vehicle.
