Anyone who knows Shawn knows his strength, humor, and love for his family, especially for his teenage son, Seamus. He’s the kind of dad, son, and brother who never complains, who shows up for work no matter what, and who faces every challenge with quiet determination.

In late 2023, Shawn’s world changed when he was diagnosed with stage 3B colorectal cancer. He fought through months of chemotherapy and radiation and thankfully responded well to treatment. But nearly a year later, in 2024, the cancer returned with a vengeance, changing his prognosis from curable to treatable.

Since then, Shawn has endured multiple surgeries, long hospital stays, and countless hours in infusion centers and doctor’s offices. Mom has been traveling to help him during the most difficult times and, despite everything, he has continued working in catering at Colorado State University (sometimes even with a chemo pump in tow!) to provide for Seamus and make ends meet. We are so thankful to CSU for their incredible support during this time.

Now, as treatment continues, it’s time for Shawn to come home to Vermont, where he’ll have the love and support of family and friends by his side.

We’ve created this GoFundMe to help Shawn with the overwhelming medical bills that have piled up over the past two years and to support his cross-country move home. His savings and paid leave have been completely exhausted, and he needs our help to focus on what matters most; healing and being with his family.
