Jax's Journey

Donation protected
I am starting this Go Fund me account to support the Klein family. Jax is a wonderful talented kid, who was such a support for my daughter during the toughest time of her life. Jax's family is a wonderful family. I want to set up this account so they do not have to worry about anything during Jax's treatment. They just need to focus on their family and Jax. All support will go directly to the Klein family to help with bills, food, transportation and daily items they need. They are currently staying at The Ronald McDonald House for the next 5-6 months while Jax has this very aggressive treatment. The Klein family is also asking to make donations to the Ronald McDonald house. Thank you so much in advance for helping support Jax and the Klein Family.

Jax’s journey started with a sledding injury Dec 2020. Several doctor visits focused on the knee as that is where Jax had been complaining about pain. As the months went on we had many doctor visits and several tests. These tests showed there was nothing to be found. We finally were sent to a specialist in another city where the medical staff figured out that Jax had a hip injury. We then got sent for an MRI, CT scan, and bone scan. After these tests we found out the horrible news that it was cancer that was causing all the issues. We have been told that the tumour was 14-15 cm in diameter and it was all in the hip. After the diagnosis, we knew there would be a long road ahead of us. We began to get our lives in order at home. We packed up and moved to the city, not really knowing where we would be going.

Dad took time off work to be there next to Jax in the battle ahead. We found a place to stay for our week-long visit to the hospital for appointments and tests that have been scheduled for Jax. We then got scheduled for PET scans, and more CT scans. This is where we found out that the cancer had spread to the lungs already. We had a biopsy done to the mass in the hip. We had to wait 4 days for the results, this is where we found out it was much worse than expected. We met with the doctors on Dec. 1st and found out that it was Ewing Sarcoma cancer, and there is a 20% success rate of completely curing Jax. We left the choice to Jax and it has been decided to fight and attack this.

Now that we have this information, we start a very aggressive regimen of Chemotherapy. The treatment process begins on Dec 7th. Jax will stay in the hospital during the long week of treatment. Then we have the chance to be out and have a week to relax, and give Jax's body a chance to rest. This goes on for a 12 week period, week in week out. Then we look at if surgery or radiation is an option, and that could mean being shipped to another childrens hospital for treatment in either Edmonton, Toronto, or stay where we are, depending on the next course of treatment. Then we start another 8 week week on and week off treatment schedule. Then we will evaluate the progress of the treatment and go for another 8 week week in week out treatment plan.
