Support Jesse's Journey to Recovery

On August 8th, 2024 Jesse suffered a fall that caused a severe traumatic brain injury. He endured two massive brain bleeds, two brain surgeries, and a craniotomy to remove portions of his skull.
Jesse spent the first four days in an induced coma and ended up remaining in the Neuro Trauma ICU for almost three weeks.
Once he was finally able to come to from the induced coma state he has managed to make many wonderful improvements and has continued to show everyone his true strength and abilities. After being intubated for over two weeks he had a difficult time being able to pass his swallow tests but is now able to eat normal food and is not using his stomach PEG-tube at all now.
We are beyond grateful and amazed that Jesse can speak, has the use of both legs, and can move his dominant right arm. The only major physical impairment is the use of his left arm and hand. However he is still experiencing some cognitive issues like confusion and delirium at times which is why it is crucial that he can be able to receive continued and longer term extensive therapies and rehabilitation following his hospital discharge, which is still unknown at this time. Jesse’s neuro trauma team have heavily emphasized the need for specialized after-hospital and after-rehab care along with the importance of coordinating a future living situation that will provide him with constant supervision and aid - which he may likely need for the rest of his life.
Jesse is an Army veteran but due to being a “low tier veteran” his VA benefits have proven to be limited and unfortunately he is still currently left with no answers as to where he can be released from the hospital to for the physical and cognitive rehabilitation he so desperately needs.
Sadly a VA hospital and inpatient TBI rehabilitation facility that we were so close and hopeful to get him into out of state has just notified us that he has been denied care there - so we are back to square one at the moment.
We are still trying to work with the VA to explore any and all other options that could be available to him, as well as getting the ball rolling with the Medicaid application process. We are also working to find some kind of social security/disability benefits to help him with whatever living arrangement we can figure out after some kind of inpatient program, however this process will take quite a while and may not prove fruitful.
As it stands now Jesse needs around-the-clock care and supervision, which is why it’s crucial that we not only find him the best inpatient facility for his rehab and some current medical needs, but also for some kind of longer term living arrangement once he would be deemed ready to leave any rehab or extended care facility.
While this fund is intended for aiding with his ongoing and future medical care and needs, it would also be greatly beneficial as a savings source for Jesse to be able to access further down the road in his recovery.
Any support to this fund would not only offer Jesse some financial relief, but also some encouragement and security to him while he continues to embark on each new phases of his recovery.
Thank you to everyone who’s shown up for Jesse during this time, and to those of you who have offered such loving words of hope, your support, as well as your prayers and blessings.
The family sends our sincerest gratitude and we will continue to keep everyone updated.
