PJ Bennett Beat Ewing's Campaign

Donation protected

PJ Bennett is a 17 year old senior at Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, Ohio, and found out last August that he had beaten Ewing's Sarcoma. He was able to ring the bell at Nationwide Children's Hospital for completing over three years of chemotherapy, trial vaccine and radiation to beat his cancer. Sadly, the battle is beginning again.

I have been lucky to know PJ as his past tutor and friend, and he is truly one of the strongest and most positive young men I know. Althrough his chemotherapy and surgeries, he never complained and kept his faith.
We all have our battles in life, but we can all help PJ with this battle now.

PJ was diagnosed on Christmas day 2010, when the pain in his leg was enough to have his parents take him to the emergency room.  Ewing's Sarcoma was found in his right femur and both his lungs. He underwent a tumor vaccine trial at the National Institutes of Health in Maryland to get the white blood cells to freeze until he completed chemotherapy at Children's Hosptial in Columbus for the next three months.

He underwent a limb salvage surgery on his leg to remove the tumor, and they were able to save his leg during this surgery.  He continued chemotherapy through October 2011, with two weeks of full lung radiation at the James Hospital that June.

In November, the family would travel every two weeks to Maryland for vaccine treatments until March 2012. During his PET scan it was found he had more tumors in his lungs. PJ underwent another surgery to remove the tumors on his right lung, and continued with chemo in May 2012, and would continue until May 2014. His August scan was clear and PJ was able to  celebrate by ringing the bell at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

PJ was finally ready to start a normal high school life, as he had been home schooled since his Freshman year.   During his routine scan in November of last year, nodules were found on both lungs. He was diagnosed with an infection, but on December 29th, the left nodule had grown in size and he was diagnosed again with Ewing's Sarcoma during his January 30, 2015 surgery to remove the nodules.

This is where we can all help the Bennett family, most especially, PJ.  He is scheduled to to to Cincinnati for a trial, but the family is hoping to get him into a better trial at St. Jude in Memphis.  They are on a waiting list and should hear in the next couple of weeks.

Please join me and everyone who knows and loves this young man to help with medical and living expenses.  Pat, his father, is Police Chief in Sunday, Ohio, and his mother runs the family Long Branch Pizza restaurant. He has a younger brother who really looks up to his big brother.  They need our help in order to get PJ the treatment and goal of finally beating this disease.
