Help Cynthia Beat Cancer
Don protégé
Hi, this is the Flores Family, and we are helping raise money for our dear friend Cynthia.
For the past 10 years Cynthia Lopez has devoted her life to saving dogs. She has taken care of feral dogs, special needs dogs, behavior dogs and newborn puppies. Despite all of what she does for the dogs, Cynthia, is still a devoted wife, mother and friend. She has always put other people’s ( and dogs) needs ahead of her own and has basically been the blueprint for what a kind human should be like.
In April of this year, after her annual mammogram appointment, Cynthia tested positive for invasive ductal carcinoma, grade 3 metastatic to lymph nodes. Thus, instantly changing her life. After years of taking care of everyone else, it’s time for Cynthia to take care of herself but not without the help of the community that loves her dearly.
This week (5/11/2023) she will start chemotherapy. Not only did she have to find placement for all her fosters but she also needs to stop working. And while her insurance will cover most of her medical it will not cover the lack of finances to take care of her family, 2 legged and 4. They are going down to a 1 income family and these days, it seems even a 2 income family is not enough.
We are starting this fundraiser to help alleviate the financial burden that has been set on Cynthia’s family so they can focus on beating this cancer. We are sure her husband will need to miss work to be there with and for his wife. We have set the goal at $100,000 as treatment and recovery can be a 3-5 year journey.
Cynthia is the best kind of person you can know. She’s the person who visits homeless encampments and provides food and care for the humans and dogs there. She’s the person who happens to “be in the area” to drop off supplies to help other fosters even if she lives many miles from them. Cynthia is the kind of person who has cupcakes delivered to her friend’s house “just because” even after she’s found out she has cancer. We have never known Cynthia to be too busy to help someone else and she’s never asked for anything in return. But today, we are asking all of you to “be like Cynthia”.
