Pivot x Energy Week 2022: Going the Distance

May 9-13, 2022 is the 5th annual Pivot x Energy Week!

What if you had to walk 3 miles across mountainous terrain to see a doctor when you’re sick? Or walk 6 miles while in labor to deliver your baby? How about surgery; can you imagine traveling upward of 15 miles on foot to access the closest hospital for a life-saving operation?
For the majority of people in Madagascar – where 62% of the population lives in rural communities and 75% live below the poverty line – these circumstances are an everyday reality.

Driven by a commitment to health as a human right, Pivot combines quality healthcare services with rigorous scientific research to prevent needless suffering, strengthen public health systems, and shape scalable healthcare solutions for Madagascar and beyond.

Working closely with the Government of Madagascar, Pivot is helping those who suffer from inadequate health systems lead themselves and their families toward healthier lives. By measuring their impact on population health in Ifanadiana District since 2014, Pivot knows that their health system strengthening activities have supported a rise in healthcare access and meaningful change in key population health outcomes, such as child mortality, over the past 8 years.

Geography is consistently one of the greatest barriers to care for people in Madagascar. This year, Energy Fitness is teaming up with Pivot to GO THE DISTANCE together by raising $10,000 in support of Pivot’s expanding, lifesaving work!

You can join the cause by making a gift here, by putting in some miles on the designated machines, or by sponsoring a member of the Energy team as we aim to clock a collective 8,741 miles (the distance between Long Island and Madagascar) across all five clubs during the week of May 9-13 in solidarity with the communities Pivot serves.
