While the Pittsburgh Area experiences the stochastic terror of immigration enforcement, many of our neighbors are moving about their daily lives in fear and vigilance and it is taking a toll on them. They need our help, and many need to remain anonymous for their safety which makes fundraising more difficult because the personal stories often give us more prompting to respond.
I am raising funds for one of my neighbors who is in a precarious position and trying to shield her children from as much of the uncertainty and fear as she can.
She currently needs financial support for the following:
- Legal fees and support in navigating this constantly changing landscape of immigration processes
- Relocation of housing in a more secure location
- Basic survival needs: housing, food, utilities
This neighbor is exercising the utmost caution which has meant some of the family routines have been upended, safe spaces reconsidered, summer plans altered, and she’s constantly maintaining a hyper-vigilance. All the while, she is weaving her care through her community, connecting other immigrant members of our community to resources. She's been in the practice of sharing what resources she has, and I trust that these resources will be no different, and the ripples will spread generously.
With your support for her, we’ll be more deeply connected to one another and provide support to more and more of the community.
