Help Minadeo Elementary Students Get to Their Fall & Winter Field Trips!

Minadeo Elementary School, located in the heart of Pittsburgh, PA, proudly serves students in grades PreK–5 from neighborhoods including Squirrel Hill, Homewood, Hazelwood, and beyond. As a Title I school, we are home to a diverse and vibrant community of learners, including students with disabilities supported in both general education and specialized classrooms, as well as many students who bring rich cultural and linguistic diversity to our school.

Our students work hard every day, and we believe learning should extend beyond the classroom walls. This fall, our younger students (K–2) are looking forward to a trip to Janoski’s Farm, where they’ll explore a corn maze, visit a petting zoo, jump in the straw, and take home a pumpkin of their own. Meanwhile, our older students (3–5) are preparing for a day at Camp Guyasuta, where they’ll challenge themselves on a ropes course, learn archery, build teamwork skills, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the great outdoors.

In December, students in K–5 will have the opportunity to visit the Heinz History Center to learn about Pittsburgh’s history of resilience, innovation, and the incredible contributions of the African American community in Western Pennsylvania.

Thanks to our PTO and the Kamin “Free for Kids” Initiative, the cost of the field trips themselves is covered — but we need your help to cover the cost of transportation. Due to changes in the state education budget, funding for buses is no longer available, and without your support, our students may not be able to attend these exciting, educational experiences.

Your donation — big or small — will go directly toward bus transportation to ensure every student can take part in these memorable and meaningful learning opportunities. Our students are already turning in their permission slips and counting down the days with excitement — let’s make sure they can go!

* This fundraiser is being conducted using the Pittsburgh Minadeo PTO, Inc ("Minadeo PTO"), a registered 501 (c) (3) charity (EIN 47-4510394) bank account for financial processing purposes only. It is not an official PTO-sponsored fundraiser, but in accordance with the PTO's mission to positively serve Pittsburgh Minadeo Elementary School, by offering financial resources to enhance the educational experience for its students. All funds received into the PTO's bank account from this fundraiser will appear on the PTO's balance sheet as a new line item for tracking purposes only. Any proceeds in excess of expenses will be donated in full to the school's designated fund for future field trips or student activities.
