My sister, Annalise, and I have joined the Pitt Dental Outreach chapter of VAW Global Health Alliances and will be spending two weeks to promote public health by doing service projects in Vietnam.
VAW Global Health Alliances (VAW Global) is a global health and development organization committed to cultivating sustainable and equitable partnerships with local communities and professionals through support and capacity-building for essential and accessible health services.
In June 2026, we will be working in Vietnam. Many communities there lack what we in the United States consider basic utilities. Our primary project is to hold mobile dental clinics, where we will work with local health care professionals to provide free dental care to communities, including patient history, basic triage, and patient procedures such as extractions, x-rays, cleanings, and fillings. We will also visit surrounding elementary schools and teach the children basic public health classes.
In order to make this trip a success, I need your help! We are working to raise funds to purchase supplies and medications for our mobile clinics in rural Vietnam. Any amount is greatly appreciated. With $25, your donation can purchase one box of sutures for extractions. With $250, your donation can purchase x-ray films for a week of clinics. With $500, your donation can buy enough supplies to stock our mobile clinic for one day.
