I am currently a second year dental student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Over spring break 2017 I am going on a trip to the Dominican Republic with a mission organization called Bright Island Outreach. While in the Dominican Republic, I will be helping at a temporary dental clinic in a rural mountain community. A typical dental clinic is able to provide fillings, dentures, root canals and surgical services to patients.  I will get the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the clinic, along with the chance to shadow dentists that will be volunteering their time. I am also looking forward to interacting with the Dominican people and getting to experience their culture.  Although, I have been fundraising throughout the year with the Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, the cost of my trip is going to be over $1,500.
