We all know Stephen as a staple part of the Little Rock scene--slinging coffee, sardonic good laughs, bleak, hopeless literature recommendations and excellent taste in art-- he brings energy and a ridiculously good time wherever he goes. Little do most of us know, Stephen is also a staple part of his family, and the only child to a just-as-wickedly-clever woman named Wyvonia. This year has taken a toll on her health. What started as small things forgotten, turned into huge gaps in memory and a loss in her ability to communicate. This led Stephen and his grandmother to investigate her health more deeply. These last three months have been spent doctoring and advocating. After more strife and heartache than describable, Stephen and his family finally have an answer: Wyvonia has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

The next 6 weeks will be spent doing radiation treatments. Stephen has resided in Fordyce for these last months to give his mom round-the-clock care and soon the financial burden of gas mileage is going to hit the family as they will be traveling nearly 700 miles a week for radiation treatment.

I ask that you donate whatever you can- a few dollars for gas and personal at-home care will go a long way. Wyvonia has made incredible strides in her ability to overcome the paralysis rendered from seizures caused by her tumors. She is fighting and laughing along the way and Stephen could really use the generosity and support through this.
