Pitbull Attack - Severely Injured Dog

On Tuesday, April 11, at about 7:50 pm. I was walking my dog ​​(44lbs) with her leash attached to my waist/hip on West Grand and Price Street (back side of Vinty Apartments building) in Elizabeth NJ. I heard a commotion behind me, and I felt something brush my right leg, that is when I see a medium size female Pitbull Terrier, (maybe 60-80 lbs) dark brown, off-leash which began to attack us. I immediately put my dog ​​behind me, screaming and trying to kick her away, but to no avail. The pitbull grabbed the rear leg on my dog's right side and started pulling and pulling violently. I tried kicking, pulling, and gouging at it, but the jaws you always hear about were locked and wouldn't release no matter what I did. I struggled for what seemed like 10 minutes. Maybe it was 15-20 seconds? Who knows?

Finally, the owner came running to our aid. He tackled the Pitbull and choked him, noticing that the jaws loosened, I tried to get him off my dog and it bit my left forearm. We were finally free. Noticing that the pitbull was still in a state of aggression and that there was no leash in his owner's hands, I asked him to move away. I examined Mia and saw that she was losing a lot of blood. I called my wife and we went to VEG (Veterinaty Emergency Group) where they gave her pain medicine and antibiotics, bandaged her and sent us to see a surgeon at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital.

The right rear leg was severely injured: The ER surgeon found multiple puncture wounds, bruises, and lacerations from the Pitbull's bites. They put 1 drain in to release fluid buildup in this leg. Mia is taking 4 different medications to relieve her pain, suffering, anxiety, and inflammation. The recovery journey has begun. We only hope that she can walk normally again and continue to be the sweet, tender, and happy dog ​​that she has always been.

The Pitbull's owner calls himself “Alex” phone number is (908) [phone redacted], lives in the Vinty Apartment building, (presumably on the third floor) where people say he frequently walks his dog off-leash. He is hiding from the authorities. For any information about this person please send a message by this means.

La pata trasera derecha resultó gravemente herida: La cirujana de emergencia encontró múltiples heridas punzantes, hematomas y laceraciones por las mordeduras del Pitbull. Le pusieron 1 drenaje para liberar la acumulación de líquido en esta pata. Está tomando 4 medicamentos diferentes para aliviar su dolor, sufrimiento, ansiedad e inflamación. Su viaje de recuperación ha comenzado. Solo anhelamos que pueda volver a caminar normal y siga siendo la perra dulce, tierna, y alegre que siempre ha sido.
