PISTOL PETE - THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE SVHS LEGEND -
Peter "Pistol Pete" Mirovich is one of those unforgettable people. For those that are life-long Simi Valley High School sports fans, you know Peter. For those that don't know of him, he was our biggest fan, hung around all of the games, and gleamed that big bright smile everywhere he went. His passion and knowledge of basketball are unequivocal as he'll tell you who is playing who, at what time, and even the radio station....months out. Peter is no doubt an amazing soul who deserves more for what he was given in life.
If you haven't guessed by now, we call him "Pistol Pete" due to his name closely resembling the great NBA legend, "Pistol" Pete Maravich. He still prefers Peter though and will tell you that with a smile - it's what we love about him. Peter's life has been all but easy, but you would never know this. As of late, he's moved around multiple times, lost his Father, and is now living on his own in Las Vegas. He needs our help to give him a boost.
What you may not know is that since I graduated high school (2001), Peter has called me consistently for the past 20 years. It's a call I answer every time! It's short and sweet and I know how much it means to him and I'll continue to answer those calls. Recently, one of those calls really hit home and I felt I needed to help him out. During our last call on New Years Day, he mentioned how he doesn't even have $3.00 to ride the bus. Peter is a hard-worker and willing to work but due to the pandemic has struggled to find a job and since his Dad passed, his Mom can't support him financially either. He's really struggling and doesn't deserve to. Please, let's start his 2021 the right way!
Peter would never ask for anything and I admire that about him. When he told me he doesn't even have money for the bus, he never asked me to help him out. That was exactly when I felt it was time to help him out financially and rope in our community. He needs everyone's help to kick off his year and brighten his smile back up. Every penny matters to him so let's show him how strong the Simi Valley community is. He would appreciate this more than anyone could imagine and has no idea this is going on. Peter has rooted for us far too long, it's time for us to root for him!! Thank you for everyone's help!
