Pirri Get Better

Donation protected

My husband and I are huge advocates of dog rescue and animals in general. We have our own little family with 4 dogs and 3 cats.

During the pandemic, we decided to foster what would become our fourth dog, Pirri. The moment we met him, he ran up to us and jumped all over us. In just the first interaction, he was the sweetest dog there ever was. Even through everything he went through before being rescued, which included being shot with a BB, bouncing around to 4 different shelters, and having a paw that healed the wrong way because they think he was hit by a car.

After 6 months of fostering and no other takers, we knew Pirri was meant to be ours all along and we officially adopted him. During those 6 months, he was a happy ball of energy - running around, wanting to play constantly, and incredibly affectionate.

When we first adopted him, he did have a persistent cough, which seemed insignificant at first and what everyone attributed to kennel cough. After initial treatments, it progressively got worse and worse. Antibiotics didn't do the trick, and eventually, Pirri came down with pneumonia. After trying to administer different treatments, and many costly vet visits, Pirri's condition worsened and was rushed to the ER with a fever and pneumonia for a second time, leaving our veterinarian stumped.

Following our vets advice, we took him to an internal medicine specialist, where they performed a bronchoscope and tracheal flush, finally able to diagnose several different bacterial infections in his lungs, resistant to most antibiotics. He has been treated for months and just as he was starting to make some progress, Pirri had another episode of aspiration last night. This time, it was quite severe.

Pirri is now in critical condition in the ICU at MASH and his doctors and all of us would love to see him get a chance to survive this so he can go on to have a potentially life-saving procedure as well as continued diagnostics in order to find the underlying cause of the constant aspiration.

We are dedicated to doing everything in our power to help him, but the bills are mounting up, as you can imagine. We have spent upwards of $15,000 so far and have hit a crossroads where we currently have no means left to spend.

We are praying for Pirri and will support him as much as we can. We hope that he can make it through the night. We are grateful for any donation towards Pirri's care and treatment.  Thank you so much!
