During 2010 my companion and I traveled to Laramie, Wyoming for graduate school. A series of events led up to darkest moments in my life. Believing I have made a poor life decision, leaving friends and family, loss of love, and realizing Laramie and the education program were so far off from who I was I found myself deeper within that darkness. Clinical depression set in. Anhedonia, difficulty getting up every morning, daily panic attacks, and trying anything to feel better but only feeling worse were only a few hardships I faced. There was one thing thing, one reason, one friend who got me up and kept me going. Miles Davis was more than just a dog to me. He was my motivator to keep going, my therapist, my light in darkness.
Miles has always been an active dog. Wherever I can take him, he goes. With that comes the probability of injury. Miles recently tore is CCL (equivalent to humans ACL). Miles went from being the happy active dog to lying lame declining disposition. He's in pain, whether he shows it or not, and needs surgery. For how much Miles has given me, it's my turn to give back.
After a consultation with a specialist in torn dog CCL's, the surgery is possible with a high success rate as long as he is given the proper recovery time. The only thing that stands in the way is the cost; $3600 - $4600. As a young therapist providing services to at risk youth for a non profit is not the most lucrative field and simply being able to save money is a monthly battle.
It's always been hard for me to ask for money but it's even more painful for me knowing I can help but just can't afford it. That's my reason for reaching out, Miles needs your help. This isn't a fund to create a new product or help a college kid fund their spring break to Mexico but a life changing fund for a dog who is declining everyday. If you too struggle financially or don't have the money to spare, even sharing this fund is a huge help. Every penny and share help!
