Pippy’s Journey to be Home

Donation protected

We are asking for all of Jessicas army to please send prayers for our girl. Jess was admitted to NYU in the city August 6 for internal bleeding. She needed two blood transfusions. She came home for three days and she started feeling lethargic, couldn’t breathe, difficulty walking up steps, and building up with fluid. Her sister Jackie took her for an ultrasound and they found Jess had 5 blood clots. One in her lung (Jess only has one lung)in both arms, neck, and in her heart. The blood clot in the heart is her biggest problem because 11 years ago when Jess had her 5th open heart surgery (the fontan surgery) the family had to move to Chicago because no other hospital would perform this life saving surgery. It was a great success. One side affect with a fontan heart that can occur is blood clots. Thank god Jess was fortunate enough for 11 years to not have gotten a blood clot. Unfortunately now she’s starting to get these clots, and the one most concerning is actually in the superior vena cava (the fontan) so her heart is not working and Jess keeps going into tackacardia ( arrhythmias) which is very high heart rate that Jess can actually feel. It’s an extremely scary feeling for her. Jessicas amazing team of doctors had a meeting with the family, and asked Jess if she felt her body was getting tired, and if so that she needed to let them know. Of course Jessica said “absolutely not, I have two sisters and a family to come home to.” Jessica loves life and touches everyone’s life she meets. The doctors said Jessica is really sick and there is nothing else they can do for her. She is too sick for another open heart surgery or a heart transplant. We need all of your help to get Jessica home where she belongs to keep her comfortable. Her mom Debbie is a babysitter and hasn’t been able to work for a month. And her dad Mike works for sanitation for 32 years and has a partime job at Adelphi and hasn’t gotten paid for his partime job. Mike has been driving back and forth to the city everyday and it is getting really costly. Parking is $50.00 a day, tolls, food, and gas and of course not getting paid from his Adelphi job and Debbie being at the hospital 24 hours a day and not being able to babysit so that she can be with Jess, is taking a toll on the family financially. The family decided that they are going to make a hospital room for Jess at home. Oxygen, pulse ox, medical supplies, hospital bed, 24 hour nursing, medical necessity banisters, blood pressure machine, chair lift for flights of steps, specialty shower fixtures to help her bathe safely and not get her IV wet. What Jess loves at the hospital is the ice machine that makes these small ice chips that helps soothe and keep her mouth moist ( she is on nasal canal oxygen 24 hours a day and it dries her mouth out, the ice chips really help) she really wants a small ice machine with these type of ice chips for at home use. With the help from all of you we can make this happen for Jess, to be comfortable at home with her loved ones around her. Jessicas legacy will go on forever, with always a smile on her face her famous phrase is ❤️ “Everyday is a Great Day” Jessica has touched so many lives in her 26 years of life. So please try to help this amazing family who has been fighting with this strong, brave, miracle of a young lady for 26 years. God bless you all and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The family loves you all and couldn’t get through Jessicas journey with out you all by their side.
