Pippa is a young female collie, approximately 1–3 years old, with the gentlest, sweetest soul. She came into our care at the beginning of March after the pound reached out — they knew something just wasn’t right, and they were absolutely correct.

From the moment she arrived, it was clear Pippa was struggling. Her appetite was poor, and more worryingly, her breathing… even the smallest bit of exercise leaves her distressed. A short walk, a little excitement — things every young dog should enjoy — instead cause her to panic because she simply can’t catch her breath

After veterinary assessment, Pippa has been diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis — a serious condition affecting her airway. This means that right now, she can’t run, she can’t play, she can’t just be a carefree young dog… and that’s truly heartbreaking.

The decision we now face hasn’t been easy.

Surgery is her best chance at having the life she deserves — a life where she can breathe freely, play happily, and feel safe in her own body. But airway surgery is complex and comes with significant risks. We’ve spent a long time weighing up every option, because we know doing nothing isn’t fair on Pippa… her quality of life as it stands is just too poor.

So we are choosing to fight for her.

Before we can even move forward, Pippa needs a CT scan costing £1000, and that’s just the beginning before specialist surgery is considered. As a small rescue already stretched with routine vet bills, this is a huge ask

Right now, Pippa is safe in an incredible foster home, being closely monitored and showered with love — exactly what she deserves. But we want to give her more than just comfort… we want to give her a future.
