Rescue dog Pippa would like your help.

Pippa is our family dog, a rescue dog who won over the love of all of our family, especially our children and has been a great companion to them growing up in recent years.

Last year, in 2024, Pippa suffered from a Ruptured Cruciate ligament in her hind left knee. This in essence, after the initial pain associated with rupturing a ligament, renders that leg largely unable to take any weight whatsoever (see video).

Pippa is usually a very happy, bouncy dog, who loves attention and playing with people, especially our children. She enjoys running along the beaches here in Whitstable, Kent and playing in the shallow waters when the tide is out. With this type of injury, her exercise is restricted to being let out into our back garden for a comfort break at the most. She gets so excited when she knows she going for a walk or to the beach and she is clearly missing this excitement and fun.

The operation to fix the issue cost nearly £6000, which we were able to fund via a one off pet insurance (£2000) + a loan to make up the rest. The operation on her left leg has been a complete success and she is fully mobile on it again, however we were advised that it was likely that at some point the other leg would possibly suffer from the same issue.

Very sadly, this has indeed now happened. Pippa was let out into our garden and was very excited about the chance to play briefly, she ran out and this was followed by what I can only describe as her screaming in pain. I rushed out to see her trying to hop back towards me, yelping in pain carrying her right leg high off the ground, I immediately knew the other leg had gone.

This page is therefore aimed to help us raise the £5500 required for same operation on her right leg, the alternative is not something we can think about. Pippa is such an obedient and loyal dog and so very friendly, she is otherwise very healthy and normally active.
