Piper Silberman, 18, died by suicide on December 15. He kept his struggle with mental health and self-acceptance hidden from nearly everyone except his immediate family. We provided endless love and support. He was loved beyond measure but no amount of love and kindness can fix what's broken inside.
Piper was a senior at Springfield Township High School. He was involved with numerous school activities including Retina (yearbook), Academic Team, Jazz band, National Honor Society, Tri M, Pep band and Stage Crew. He was also a goalie for the Spartan lacrosse team.
Piper was exceptional in every way and we were honored to be part of his life. He was adored by many and will always be loved.
Piper is survived by his mom April and siblings Zoe/Quinn and Asher and was preceded in death by his father, Bret.
In honor of Piper's life and legacy, we are in the process of establishing a not-for-profit scholarship foundation. The foundation will provide grants for post-secondary education to select area high school students who both (1) excel in math and/or science and (2) have been impacted by the loss of an immediate family member.
100% of the proceeds will be contributed to the scholarship foundation.
