Piper, found crossing a busy street in an industrial neighborhood in Queens NY. Her face was swollen, one eye shut with her head tilt to one side. I took her to my vet immediately.
Piper is only 6 weeks old, skin and bones, with fleas crawling across her face and belly. After a thorough examination including a full panel of blood tests (FIV and FeLV negative) and x-rays, it showed that Piper was severely dehydrated, anemic, congested and malnourished. The swollen face was possibly an allergic reaction to a bee sting of some sort as the x rays did not show any fractures. She had her ears cleaned, was given fluids, an anti-inflammatory shot, a bath and was released to me with medications to go home.
Piper was lethargic the next day. I tried to syringe feed her but she didn’t take much. When Piper eventually refused to eat, she was brought to the ER where she’s currently receiving 24/7 care (oxygen, IV fluids, antibiotics). Surgeon was consulted (and recommended a CAT scan) and concerned that the head tilt could be a result of some sort of trauma.
The cost of the care for Piper as of today is $5,323.60. The cost of the CAT scan is estimated at $2,500.
Those who know me know that I always provide the best care possible including medical for all the cats under my watch (house cats, feral, stray, injured, or sick). I want to give Piper a chance to live but I need help.
Please consider donating to Piper’s vet bill which will only grow. Any amount is appreciated as every dollar adds up.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
