Pipe Organ Project: Antiphonal Project – Phase 2
You can make a difference by donating today to Friends of Casavant 3062. This 501c was founded to raise outside awareness and contributions for the refurbishment of a 1969 Lawrence Phelps Casavnet organ at Emmanual Episcopal Church in La Grange, IL. We have raised $400,000 of the $460,000 to complete phase 1. We are now raising money to cover the cost of an Antiphonal. An Antiphonal division is a second set of pipe registers placed in the sound space away from the primary pipe registers. The range of the Antiphonal pipes is less than the primary registers and usually adds to the range of the primary registers. Emmanuel Episcopal Church has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. The church is only the third individual building in La Grange to be added to the registry. Originally constructed in 1874 and destroyed by a fire in 1924. Due to the dedication of the congregation, it was rebuilt in 3 years. The church is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the Chicago area. It was featured in the movie "While You Were Sleeping" starring Sandra Bullock as the site of her parents' idyllic marriage. This is why we are asking for support in finishing the original design from 1969. Any extra funds will go to maintenance and generational support for future organ repairs.
