Help Pip attend Hope for Cancer Treatment Centre

As many of you may know, just a few months after the Hitchman family moved to Australia from the UK (following a career opportunity for Ed); Ed’s wife Pip was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. Naturally this came as a shock to Ed, Pip and their 3 year old daughter Lettie. Pip has always been very fit and healthy and has never smoked. The cancer was found to be a rare form of non-small cell lung cancer known as ALK Positive which primarily affects heathy, non-smoking young women. Australian Medicare was brilliant and Pip was started on a TKI (targeted therapy) treatment called Alectinib within a week of her diagnosis.

The average life expectancy of a person diagnosed with ALK Positive Stage 4 is 6.7 years with the TKI treatment. However, since the diagnosis, Pip has been determined to defy the odds using a combination of conventional and alternative treatments. Since February she has been researching, exploring, and using several alternative and holistic therapies and treatments, from nutrition, supplementation, exercise, fasting and meditation, through to hyperbaric oxygen chambers, infrared saunas, acupuncture, reiki and off label drugs, all in combination with her targeted therapy.

Pip has had a very good response to the treatments (although she has been navigating some tricky side effects from the Alectinib) and the 4cm tumour on her right lung has reduced to scar tissue and scattered cells. However, from a conventional oncologist’s perspective it is only a matter of time before the cancer becomes resistant to the drugs and it progresses again. Currently, there is just one other conventional treatment option available to Pip, with one other at trial stage.

Despite the somewhat gloomy odds, Pip remains determined to heal and she is now on a mission to become classified as “NED” (No Evidence of Disease). In addition to Pip’s conventional medical treatment, she has undertaken extensive research to incorporate additional treatment and has decided that a special clinic located in Cancun, Mexico offers the best prospects.

The special clinic is called Hope For Cancer and is a patient-focussed integrative and alternative cancer treatment centre. Together with the progressive treatments offered in Mexico, plus her positive mindset and determination, Pip is confident NED is possible.

Pip will be travelling to the clinic in Mexico, during January 2024. The program runs for 3-weeks and includes on site sessions, lodging, transportation to/from the clinic, meals, assessments, immunotherapies, supportive therapies, IV’s as well as a 3-month home program and two follow-up visits for further assessments. The Hope for Cancer treatment program is adapted to each person’s unique needs and costs vary from individual to individual. A typical range for treatment can vary from $53,000 – $84,000, depending on the specifics of each diagnosis and the recommended treatment program.
