Piotr Halas, a skilled Polish gas balloon pilot, was living his passion participating in the Gordon Bennett balloon flight across the US when tragedy struck on October 9. An emergency crash landing near Dallas, Texas, left him with severe injuries—broken legs, blunt chest trauma, collapsed lung, fractured collarbones, and vertebrae injuries, to name a few.

Piotr has been in critical condition at Parkland Hospital, enduring a medically induced coma for a week. As a member of the Polish community in the Dallas area, I came across this distressing news through a friend and felt an immediate need to assist. Over the past month, I've been by Piotr's side, visiting him daily, communicating with his family, and providing translation support at the hospital.

Living in Poland, Piotr faces the daunting challenge of returning home in his fragile state. His journey to recovery is long and demanding, requiring months of therapy.
