Pioneer of Health Reform Survives Massive Heart Attack

Spende geschützt

For more than fifty years, Sister Gwen Shorter has helped others find healing through faith, health reform, and truth-filled living. Now, after surviving a massive heart attack, our beloved servant of God needs our help to recover and continue the mission that has touched countless lives.

She Has Spent Her Life Healing Others. Now She Needs a Miracle of Her Own.

In a time when the world is so desperate for hope and truth, Sister Gwen has been a steady light—a pioneer of the medical missionary work and gospel ministry whose influence has reached from New York City to the far corners of the world!

Before “plant-based” became a movement, Sister Gwen and her husband Brother Rick Shorter opened the first vegan health restaurant in downtown Manhattan. Through their ministry, The Beautiful Way, they did more than teach healthy living—they modeled it. They fed bodies and healed hearts, blending the gospel of health with the gospel of salvation.

For over five decades, the Shorters taught that true restoration begins when body, mind, and spirit are aligned with God’s Holy Word. Their books—Shorter’s Health Manual, The Pillars of Our Faith in Preparation for the Final Crisis, The Third Elijah, Final Call for Medical Missionaries, Thy Nakedness, Lord, What Shall I Wear?, and Jewelry: The Spiritualism Connection—have guided and inspired thousands towards the truth.

When Rick passed away in 2017, the world lost a man of courage and conviction. But Gwen—his beloved wife and co-laborer—refused to let their mission fade. She picked up the banner, but she was not alone. The same God who strengthened her through every storm surrounded her with friends, family, and fellow believers who helped her carry the message forward. She continued to write, teach, and travel, determined to light a thousand torches and share Gods truth until His second coming.

Then, everything stopped.

In September 2025, Sister Gwen traveled to 3ABN Studios to record an interview about her latest book, The Pillars of Our Faith. Just days after returning home, on October 1, she suffered a massive heart attack. Miraculously, she survived—but the woman who has spent her life restoring others now needs restoration herself.

For decades, Sister Gwen’s ministry has been both her calling and her livelihood. She doesn’t have a large organization behind her, only faith, determination, and the grace of God. During this recovery period, she cannot continue her usual work and needs our help to cover her living and medical expenses.

A Time to Heal

The friends of Sister Gwen Shorter are seeking to raise $33,570 to cover six months of essential expenses while she heals.

This support will provide:

Six months of recovery and living costs.

Relief from financial strain so that she can focus fully on recovery

Why Your Help Matters

Sister Gwen has poured her life into helping others find wholeness in body, mind, and spirit. She has comforted the sick, published the Truth when it has been unpopular, and lived humbly so others could live fully. Now our Sister who gave her all needs our compassion and support.

Your donation, your prayers and your willingness to share this story—each one is a special seed of kindness that will help Sister Gwen heal.

Together, we can give her the one thing she has never asked for: rest.

The road ahead is long, but with the help of those who love truth and value faith, Gwen can recover and continue the mission that has defined her life.

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2

Let’s come together to help this faithful servant rise again, restored in strength, renewed in spirit, and ready to keep bringing light and healing to a world in need.
