Our cherished puppy, Pinto, was injured by a foxtail, also known as the 'dog's worst enemy'. Once the foxtail is inside a dog, tiny barbs in the grass move it along inside their body, damaging and infecting everything it comes across. This has given him three abscesses and diffuse pneumonia over the past month, and he is now being put in a medical coma and put on ventilation as a last resort.

 

He is only one and a half years old. That may be the only saving grace we have here, but tragically, is also the reason why we have no choice but to continue.

 

Before this, Pinto was happy, healthy and a bundle of joy. Always jumping, running around and begging us to play after every nap. He is our first dog and truly transformed our party of two into a family. To see his decline after such a short amount of time alive has been the most heartbreaking thing. Although we hold on to hope that he will recover from this, we are running out of money faster than we had anticipated.

 

We have already paid $20,000 in medical bills, and have just been quoted another $35,000 for ventilation and further ICU care. Beyond these costs, we are expecting another $6000 - $10,000 for a CT scan and surgery. These are unexpected, and are a huge amount, but he is a part of our family and we just want to see him live a long and happy life like he deserves.

 

We wouldn't be asking for donations if we had any other choice. We have already exhausted all means of credit offered to us by the hospital and now we are desperately trying to find any other ways we could finance Pint's way to battling this successfully.
